no no no... you got it all wrong...  go to tools, options, email accounts, highlight the email account that gets the emails in question from Valve and delete the account...  no more email problems....

Try going into your Tools, Options, and find the hlds mailing list.  Then click what topics pertain to your interest and save your settings.

Then send an email to:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: <blank>
Body: unsubscribe hlds

And that will fix your problem.
