But i don't experience server crashing during the earlier release of hlds. beside, static routing
is handled by win2k automatically.(correct me pls if i am mistaken coz i don't usually add static routing to my
win2k server manually.)  One other thing "route print" displayed what John asked me to "route add."  Well anyway
i will dig deep into the problem.  Thanks John. Let ya know if there's some progress.

I think we can't help but patiently wait till valve sorted out the problem we're having.

This is due to the fact that both NT4 and Win2k drop their internal routes when they dial out on a dial-up-networking connection. The easiest way around this would be to put a static route table entry in for your internal network.

Just do a route add -p xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx mask 255.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
^Your internal net        ^its subnet mask ^the ip of your NIC to that lan on the server.

This should fix your problem.

share you some experience about server cs 1.3 and hlds 1.0.0.8,
I'm running a local lan with at least 20 players connected to it. Server
specs was: p3 733/128mb rdram 9.1 scsi hdd, intel pro/100+ nic.

i execute hlds.exe with -nomaster and +sv_lan 1 options, hlds
is stable, but once the server(running win2k svr) connects to the internet
through dial-up connection, hlds would unpredictably crash.  Sometimes
the players connected to it would simultaneously freeze(at least 3 of them).
