I'm not connecting to my server via LAN but from a cable connection from an other location. The server is clean, no other aps, no other servers or services that use the ADSL connection. The speed of the ADSL connection is 256kbits up and 1024kbits down.

Bandwidth saturation on your adsl line. 2. Resource starvation on the server. What is your outbound bandwidth rating on the adsl line the server sits behind? What other applications are you running on the server? What speed and how many CPUs in the server? Are you hosting a web site, ftp server, or mail server on that adsl line and/or the HLDS server box? If so, this could be causing either spikes in bandwidth utilization of the adsl line or CPU utilization spikes on the server. Either of these 2 things could cause the ping spikes you mention. BTW, if you're on the same LAN as the server, why are YOU pinging at 60? You should be pinging sub 20 if you're connecting to the server from your LAN. We really need more info to help you nail this down. I'm running a HLDS on W2k with Maxplayer 15 and i tried to play with the maxrate en minrate settings but that doesn't do anything different... Any ideas???
