Just wanted to drop a quick note, my servers are nowhere near me and I recently picked up a unit from www.servertech.com to remote powercycle the machines.. Just wanted to mention them because their unit can connect to the serial port and using the UPS software that comes with winodws, it will try to do a UPS shutdown request before power cycling...
Its actually pretty nice supporting telnet, its own propriety encrypted telnet, snmp and you can attach a modem directly to it.. If anyone else is colocated and having server freezing problems, this may help you also.
