stupid question i guess but why not signing with pgp the official mails and the public keys published on valves website?!

However, it has always been Alfred to this point that was spoofed. This is new sending it in Erik Johnson's name. If you open the individual mail, you will see in the header info that it is indeed not from Valve, nor from any Valve employee. The last one that was backtraced on the coders list, pointed to computer #5 @ some cyber cafe in Poland.
