Jon: weve tested opterons running 32bit...theyre ok but you may want to consider athlon xp64's instead...for the money theyre a better buy...they have a similar performance scale EXCEPT they seem to out perform dual opterons...we are currently running a amd athlon 64 3000+ system with 800mhz fsb using win2kpro...and so far we havent been able to kill it...but please this is just an opinion...please visit www.amd.com and match the specs yourself.
also if you do decide on a single cpu athlon xp64...take a look at gigabyte for the board or SOYO dragon series they seem to perform higher than the others.
