half_life2_counterstrike_source_demomovie.avi (get it here -

10:32 "One of the big questions is what about multiplayer. And so we
decided to combine the most popular online action game with the power
of the Half-Life 2 Engine. And we are going to show that to you. "

...Pan to screen showing Counter-Strike, followed by demo of Terrorist
attack sequence on Aztec. Voice over at end of demo film says
"Counterstrike Source" (which is what has been the most common
referential term for CS on HL2).

12:41 "Is that counter-strike 2? or just a mod for HL2?"

12:47 "Not really sure how to (garbled speach) but we are not calling
it Counterstrike 2."

He does go on to say that all other HL1 engine content will be ported,
so it appears that there will be HLDM, DMC, etc. So, if my previous
statement sounded like CS would be the only multiplayer, I did not
intend that. But the emphasis is definitely on CS, obviously because
it makes them the most money.
