Thank you for your lengthy description. I have CD and have played CD servers off and on over the years. But realize that a majority of people playing connect through STEAM now and it is easiest to pick a server from the steam serverlist - My serverlist is set to secure only because I don't want to be bothered wtih trying to figure out which 'insecure' servers are running CD and which aren't. I tried looking for a CD server, but none of teh servers listed with decent pings said anything about CD.
Thus highlighting one of the biggest problems with CD - the client proggie. Most people encountering a server requiring they go download a 3rd party software to play, will opt instead for instant fun by clicking on another server in the list. Not trying to start a CD / NO CD flame here - I think CD is great and applaud all who use it. I just think it's a terrible recommendation people go play on insecure servers as 80-90% are flogging with haxors. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Ludovic Tirtiaux Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 7:16 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [hlds] Re: hlds digest, Vol 1 #2908 - 9 msgs Hi all, There are two kinds on 'insecure" servers: those with anticheat and/or admins and those without. You obvously payed on servers of the second kind. I am the admin of a CD (CheatingDeath) server and there are rarely cheaters on it. From my point of view, the big advantage of CD is that it has a client, that players must have. This forces players to do some job in order to access a CD server. As a result, players on CD servers are generally more motivated and mature than the average. This is what I like the most with CD. That it is more or less efficient than VAC is not that important for me. :) Just to say that banning all non-VAC servers would be rather harsh.
