You seem to be on the wrong list then, there is a hlds_linux list as well, this is the windows list.

The hlds_run script should do this itself.

Running HLDS as root is a bad idea.
Its not root I just cleared the field before

That version is very old, a more recent HLDS version can be found at: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=getsteamnow

Does it respond to console commands? Is it connected to internet? It may be trying to resolve the master servers (which won't work for much longer, unless you upgrade, see above).
Bingo, it has problem to connect to the master server. Problem solved.
The debug mod can't help :( There are no errors in any log..
Last time I had installed it the same way and everything was cool. Any idea??
