I've had this problem for a long time when running any 'cygwin'
applications on the client. It just hangs hl.exe. When I stop the cygwin
apps hl.exe will just exit. This only happens on servers running VAC.
Connecting to unsecure servers or starting a local game is no problem.
If this is your problem, then the only solution I know is to stop any
cygwin programs before you connect, if anyone knows a better solution
I'd be interested as well. :-)
