Um, The server should cycle automatically. If you have -console in your exe
file for the server you should notice that it does not recognize that
command, That's what is says on mine. My server automatically. Make sure
you have these two files in your cstrike folder in the CS:S server directory

Mapcycle
Maplist

Ok, Now "Map cycle" is just that, the maps and there order of cycle in the
server.

"Maplist" should have all the maps that are on the server, or more
importantly all the maps that you want to 'cycle', without this file the
MapCycle will not work and your server will sit on whatever map you used to
start the server with... de_dust in most cases.

Here is my example.
MapCycle.txt file:
cs_italy
de_dust
de_aztec
de_cbble
cs_office
de_chateau
de_dust2
de_piranesi
cs_havana

Maplist.txt file:
de_dust
de_aztec
de_cbble
de_chateau
de_dust2
de_piranesi
cs_italy
cs_office
cs_havana
test_speakers
test_hardware

Hopefully this helps you.

Subject: [hlds] SourceDS Map Cycle?

How do you get Source Dedicated Server to recognize the mapcycle file? I
have created server.cfg in the cstrike/cfg directory and in there added the
line:

mapcyclefile mapcycle.txt

But the server stays on de_dust forever - even though I have mp_timelimit
set to 20. I also created autoexec.cfg in the same directory and that's
where I have the "map de_dust" command set.

I know that autoexec.cfg is still being executed whenever I start the
server, and I know that server.cfg is executed whenever I manually change
the map. Is there something I should be doing different in order to get
the map cycle working automatically?

And is there any actual reference documentation for any of this yet?

Regards,

Cool Hand
