Alfred can chime in and correct all of us on this one. Hey Alfred, is SRCDS beta testing satisfactorilly with 18,000+ "beta servers" online with 40,000+ people playing the "steaming pile" game?
Careful now Ray. You are encroaching on my tard-ass territory with statements like that.
VAC2 would be nice. But your recent mention of your impending departure in June when BF2 releases indicates VALVe hard cores might not need to pay much attention to your posts. As I recall, the last time I checked GameSpy server and player counts, VALVe products encompassed more than half of all online game servers and players at any given time.
Let's add to this the statements by EA insiders that BF2 servers will run from a minimum of 64 players with the recommended slot count at 100 or more. I am as interested as you as to what that tranlates to in server loading.
As for anti-cheat technology, Punk Buster is EA's idea of a good solution. I agree PB is good up to a certain extent but, given what I have learned about SLI technology, PB screenies are not going to be effective against the advanced coding that is possible after the bits leave DirectX memory where EvenBalance gets it's screenies.

Interesting "green line crosshair" isn't it. It actually can help improve gameplay too.
You can be 100% certain that the cheat authors, that like to stay at the top of CAL and TWL, are already hard at work on developing cheats that can take advantage of this neat stuff.
Server Loading Update: I checked the 8 servers online and there are 40+ players while the CPU is breezing along at 15%. Whoops! All the expectations based on prior versions of srcds are going out the window at this rate....
I'll run a contest this weekend to fill up these servers so I can get the screenie we all want to see. Prizes TBD but will be complete games or useful hardware like DVDRW players, for the 100th, 150th, and, if the server hold up, the 200th players to join and play an entire round. I'll post the contest at the website associated with my servers. (Got to get the players in there somehow when there is an expectation of lag fests...)
Cheers!

Well slick I don't run the shit. SRCDS is a BS beta test platform for the coders in Valve and I'm not part of it. I've stated before and I'll state it again for the slow ones in the group. CSS is a "steaming pile" and we stopped running the garbage well over a month ago. What it does or does not do to anybody's system I could not care. What I care about is some VAC and that's ALL I care about at the moment.
[O.T.] Who got the twack stick last?
