That is a good server

If you turn your rates down then you probably can run that many players.

Then again you probably are running with lower rates anyhow to
accomodate those 24 & 32 player servers.

We need your server.cfg and command line to properly evaluate those
numbers as well as a nice little graph/spreadsheet of player numbers
to bandwidth used.

I recall some list subscribers wanted to see some actual metrics for
bandwidth utilization.
Hope this is the sort of info you were looking for.....

...snip snip....
"a nice little graph/spreadsheet of player numbers to bandwidth used"
- agreed.
when i have the actual players culled out of the logs then the most
important answers will be available.
I'll grab some images of the powergraphs and rtg graphs to go with all
this when it is ready to show as a package.

as for the command line i use the dos /realtime parm and the srcds
-console, -game, +map, +maxplayers, -ip, and -nohltv paramaters:
start /wait /realtime srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map
cs_assault_lith +maxplayers 24 +ip 70.85.38.81 -nohltv

the /wait has to do with the auto-restart script this is wrapped inside of.

I tried raising the tickrate to 40 last night and almost immediately
observed this odd behavior where any one server changing maps caused the
cpu graphs to all go to zero for 2 or 3 seconds. i entered one of the
servers to witness what was happening and everybody just froze in place
when this happened. so the best bet for now is to just not use -tickrate
until the option has had more time to "gel".

Here is the server.cfg for what i consider to be the worst optimization
out of all the servers i run.
i say worst because of the sv_gravity and in-game voice parameters. a
normal server does not have voice enabled at all and there is no
sv_gravity setting in the cfg.
