Old school HL server admin trying to run a new Steam HL2 DM server. Hey guys, glad to see the list is still up and running. I would like to run a Steam HL2 DM server. I thought I could download http://www.fileplanet.com/130426/130000/fileinfo/Steam-Dedicated-Server-v.1.1.2.0-[Win32], run the hldsupdatetool, add some new HL2 DM maps to the /valve/maps folder, edit my server and autoexec.cfg, make a startserver.bat file and be good to go... When I try to start the server it seems to be coming up normal, says server is in secure mode, reads through my server.cfg and then I get
L 03/25/2005 - 12:04:28: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Mod_LoadBrushModel: maps/piff.bsp has wrong version number (1347633750 should be 30) I have tried a couple of different maps and they all do the same thing. Well let me rephrase. I can run old HL DM maps no problem. But I get the error when I try to run the new HL2 DM maps. What do I need in order to run HL2 DM maps ? Is there a different standalone server that I need ?
