We run 7 CSS servers on a RHEL box and we have the following in our autoexec.cfg and are experiencing no crashes whatsoever.
log on logaddress_add XX.XX.XX.XX:27500
This may only help to confuse the situation. If there is anything that you would like from any of the configs to help with debugging the issue let me know.

Mikee, I am not sure why you are crashing but doing this will only ensure it happens again. Randomly mixing binaries is a sure way to get yourself in trouble. Run the hldsupdatetool with the "-verify_all" parameter to get it to verify the consistency of your binaries. Also ensure you don't have a "log on" call in your autoexec.cfg for now.

If you still have a copy of the files that got updated in this folder, try replacing them with the prior pre-patch files. This was the only way I could get my servers to run:
C:\hlds\bin\
Hopefully this will fix Valves repeated incompetence for you. I'm keeping the log on in the autoexec.cfg file, and it is logging. I only run HL2DM windows servers, so if the shoe fits.

For me it still crashes even with it in server.cfg rather than autoexec.cfg!
