There are other games with dedicated servers out there. For instance, you should try FarCry out. No update headaches there. Why there are no updates at all! Never will be! And you can run what, one FC server per host without smashing the CPU? lol
As always, those who can write a better game can complain but we all prefer you deliver the great game to end all games over the usless flames.
Also, I'm not sure this was a mandatory update. Reading the news can help the admin decide whether or not to patch.

For Pete's sake....now you force us server admins to do two updates because you think we want yet another lame ass map that lags and crashes the servers, and that we never wanted in the first place? All three of my servers crashed running this latest crappy map, and I'll never run it again....but now I have to patch again to fix this worthless pile of a bsp?
Even your mappers can't even double check their quality before releasing something! After 3 months, no bug fixes...the HL2 community could care less about new maps, most of which are not worth running anyway. Many of us are just about done running servers for this screwed up game. Keep your maps.
What a waste....and what a shame to see this so poorly handled by Valve. Valve should work for the government.

We have released an update to Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. Run the hldsupdatetool to get this update.
This update fixes an exploit in the newly released dm_runoff map that allowed airstrike "spamming". More details can be found here: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=412
