I think the point of the autoupdate is that it updates over mapchange....?
So you don't have to update it manualy.

Maybe im wrong.

you just need to quit the server via rcon to update...

I have a TODO item to add the autoupdate functionality to windows, there
are a couple gotcha's associated with windows that need to be resolved
first.
In the meantime if you are running via the hldsupdatetool you can scan
for 'Your server is out of date.  Please update and restart.' in the
console (not log files!) and trigger a restart off that (I guess this
requires the firedaemon guys to do some work).
