James, I still disagree. Do they owe me something? Well I paid for the game and mods (DOD:S included), so yeah, they do. I didn't think that was something in dispute. Furthermore, valve knows full well if they didn't provide these updates, they wouldn't have near the following they do. This update was in preparation for DOD:S, which I did pay for. So yep, it's something they owe me. Think what you wish, but either way, they don't do this just out of the kindness of their hearts, there is an economic reason too.
It's like saying friendly service isn't part of the meal when you go out to eat. Sure, that may technically be true, but it'll also get your place closed down due to lack of business if you try it. So while they don't directly owe me anything beyond DOD:S, they would be fools to go that direction. With that said, yes, Valve does go far above and beyond most game companies. For that I commend them and thank them, but that really isn't the point I'm trying to make here. I only posted that, in defense of those that did have a problem with the announcements, that they were somewhat justified. One hour before release is not the time to find bugs, nor correct your school papers. In addition, if the delay was to test this release for bugs, they did a piss-poor job in my opinion. Anyhow, if you want to continue this banter off list, email me. Otherwise, we can just agree to have our own opinions. Shit happens, get over it. They don't owe you anything, though I know you think they do. See, when they announce an update coming soon, it's a curtesy. They could simply release it and leave you with your pants aroud your ankles, but they don't... they alert us all with these messages. Then, they alert us that they won't be able to release it because there's a last minute problem. Sounds professional to me. Taking the time to make sure the fans are in the know. Wow. More than can be said for just about every game company out there. In any event, is there a way I can get the command parameter for dod:s? I just want to set the .bat file that runs daily to include that so when it's released, I can get it automatically.
