Please, don't use reply to make a new subject anyway, it breaks thread tracking systems that use message reply-id's. Look in the mail header for more information. If you are making a new thread, make a new thread (a new mail) to do it. .. more response below... > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Aaron L. > Sent: Thursday, October 06, 2005 7:29 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [hlds] DoDs mp_autokick 1 is dropping players after just 50secs > idle > > Hey all. I'm going between XP and 2003 Server. Well XP SP2 (and you should be running SP2) has limitations in the networking engine that will cause issues on a high player box. The introduction of a mid-connection socket limitation means that, particularly if you serve alot of 56k clients, your clients may suffer connection delays on new connection. This is however the only real factor. Most of the code underneath is identical between the two OSs, especially those parts that you'd be using for this application. One other factor may be multiprocessor and ram limitations, however I don't imagine you are putting that much power in a box at present. With this in mind however, you might find it is better business to go with 2003 licenses pre-emptively. > I mainly run valve dedicated servers.
