All,

-secure is not a valid commandline
sv_secure is not a command to activate or deactivate VAC. It simply shows if
the server is secure or not. (0/1)

VAC will start automatically where -insecure is NOT in the commandline

If your server fails to connect to steam servers, try setting a "-sport" to
a value which is NOT taken up by a server on your box.

For example, if you have 5 servers running on ports 27015 27016 27017 27018
27019, then your "-sport" must NOT be the same as one of these.
Your "-sport" numbers must also be all different, having the same "-sport"
will NOT work

Take this setup of 5 servers for example:

Server 1 -port 27015 -sport 27010
Server 2 -port 27016 -sport 27011
Server 3 -port 27017 -sport 27012
Server 4 -port 27018 -sport 27013
Server 5 -port 27019 -sport 27013

Servers 1 to 3 will have no problems at all. Only one of 4 and 5, depending
on which order they are launched, will work at one time, the other will not
be able to connect to the steam servers through the same "-sport" as the
other server.

So for a nice healthy (in theory) server setup, you need:

Server 1 -port 27015 -sport 27010
Server 2 -port 27016 -sport 27011
Server 3 -port 27017 -sport 27012
Server 4 -port 27018 -sport 27013
Server 5 -port 27019 -sport 27014

hope this helps

-James

Subject: Re: [hlds] VAC???

Thanks I tried this but still there was no VAC module present... my launch
options line is as follows
-tickrate 66 -secure
and my server config has the line sv_secure 1, and still nothing...
This may have something to do with it.
I have to execute my server config after my server has booted up, so I have
to execute the server config using the main console, I fear this may have to
do something with it...
if anyone can offer a sloution please let me know and if anyone knows how to
get my config to execute upon startup then I would really appreaciate that
too.
Thanks
