        I suspect it won't take away from the game as much as trying to run
that gameserver over a home DSL line with 256K up will, and for the average
private gamerserver a DS1 isn't sufficient and a DS3 is going to run about
$4K/month.

        Personally?  If somebody wants to host my gameserver and only wants
a Pepsi logo on a wall or a splash screen when downloading, if they're
offering to host it on their corporate OC12 I'm all for it.

        Let the gameserver ops handle the game.  Let a little advertising
pay for the hosting.  That lets the little guy host his server a lot more
easily and cheaply than signing a contract with a server farm does, and we
get more servers.  Not a bad deal.
