I've been running the latest update on HLDM with no observed spike problems,
but I have been seeing an occasional disconnect with the "Cient timed out
while answering challenge" problem.

I was running a playtest on my new Army2 map on Sunday and everyone got
disconnected roundrobin, even my LAN client, but then it eventually settled
down and ran perfect for 12 hours.

Since I run the Server VGUI, I see the server performance graphically and
things like spikes and unusual CPU usage are very apparent if they do
happen.

The HLDM server only runs metamod v1.17 2003/11/15 and botsman's stripper2
(a very fine plugin btw) on an AMD XP 2600+, 512MB running XP Pro. The
server runs at sv_ticrate 1000 and fps_max 1000 (actual Server fps is
typically 512).

Did we ever get an official statement from valve about
the performance issues that seemed to be caused by the
last update for HL1 based servers that a few people
have mentioned here on the list ?

I know the rollback seemed to fix the issue but was
there any official fix or statement about this problem
?
