People running CS servers at home....uhgggg Instead of trying to host some mish mash server on a DSL or Cable connection, why not pay 20 or so dollars a month and get a professionally hosted private game server? You get all the benefits of having your own server(on excellent hardware with GREAT connectivity) and none of the hassle of saturating your own internet connection, providing a crappy game play experience for players, and violating your TOS with your internet provider.

(Rick Gillespie) You don't need a static IP, and you don't need to set most of the ports that portforward.com says to. And I doubt Earthlink, as anal as they are, is blocking anything. Anyone remember 10 years or so ago when Earthlink was one of the best ISPs out there? Dial up ruled, they had great service, and great customer service. Alas, they have outgrown themselves and forgotten what it was that made them big. You should let the Linksys handle the PPPOE/A, not the modem, because that can cause the problem you are seeing (it took a while for this to come back to me)(and memory isn't the first thing to go?). I went through this a while ago, and it finally clicked as to what your problem could be. So...reset your DSL modem to factory default - use the reset switch on the back, hold it for 5 seconds or whatever, it should reset it to factory default. Reset Linksys at same time, just power cycle it. Go into your Linysys setup. Tell it you are using PPPOE/A, enter user id and password. Most DSL modems will operate in gateway mode and allow the Linksys to handle the PPPOE/A, and by doing so your Linksys will have the external IP that your ISP assigns. My Westell does this automatically, I seem to recall that my Actiontec did the same thing. Your may or may not. Otherwise your modem is trying to be a router and so is your router and you are going through double NAT and it's no wonder your server is not visible :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Gillespie" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 24, 2006 8:05 AM Subject: [hlds] Re: Server not showing in master server list...........
