Have no fears.

When people talk here about 64bit binaries, they are talking about
server-side issues on a Linux system. Steam is 32bit so will run in Windows
x64 in that wow64 gubbins so will work as normal as if it were on an x86
system.

VAC does not yet work on a Linux *servers* using hlds_amd64 binaries as the
code has not yet been completed by valve with no word of it being completed
anytime soon.

There are no 64bit binaries for Windows x64 systems so you will be fine.

Alfred, any news on 64bit binaries that support VAC2?

Subject: [hlds] OS advice

Hello all,
Next week we'll be getting a AMD 4400+ dual core server.

Now i need to choose a OS. Personally im very happy with the windows 64bit
osses currently running on my own pc, but i've seen a coulpe of things
here
about 64bit.

It is true that the 64bit binaries still have issues? And if yes, what are
the mayor once?
And what about VAC, was it already supported or not in 64bit? (Thats
actually the main question, as i _need_ VAC).

Or is it possible to run 32bit binaries/VAC on win x64, and if yes, does
it
have any performance increase vs 32bit OS, or can i better run win32bit
then
?

One more Q, winXP or win2k3 ?

Cheers and thanks for helping in advanced :)

Saint K.
