Ok...I have been pulling my hair out for a week now trying to track down why our server suddenly just goes unresponsive (yet another dod server on a different port has no issues). I tried a fresh install with no configuration done to it and the same thing (no 3rd party mods...nothing). I finally figured out that it is the port. If I change the port, the server runs just fine. Change it back and it becomes unresponsive every 30 seconds or so. This server has been running just fine until last week. I checked to make sure nothing was attacking the port it was on (27016...sport is set to 27013). I turned the firewall completely off and it does the same thing. I also checked all the ports used on the machine to make sure nothing else was trying to use that port. Also, sometimes the server just gets mad. It wont go secure and it says on startup "connection to steam servers failed". Then it proceeds to give people errors about verifying steamids when they try to join. Although sometimes it works. Now mind you that if I simply change the port to 27015, everything works as it should with no problems (I would rather not change the port if at all possible since the server has been on that port for way too many years). Does anybody have any other ideas for me? I really am at a loss. Help.
