Just to follow up, I have a screenshot of the error in #2 of my original
post:

Also, I have no problems at all running a Half Life 2 DM dedicated server.
It is just this Half Life DM Source that won't run.

Subject: [hlds] dedicated server problems Half Life Deathmatch Source
Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2006 14:38:18 -0500

1)

C:\server\hlds.exe -console -game hl1mp +exec server.cfg +map stalkyard

For Half Life Deathmatch Source, when I run the above dedicated server
command line my game does not show up in the game list. The console says
Vac
secure and steam connection. When i run "status" it shows the game as Half
Life and says nothing about Deathmatch Source. It won't even let me add the
server to my Favorites by IP, so something is seriously wrong here.

2)

C:\hl2server\srcds.exe -console -game hl1mp +exec server.cfg +map stalkyard

Using the srcds and the command line above, I get the following error

num_for_edict: bad pointer

I am not a novice to setting up dedicated servers. I have done so
successfully for Action Half Life, Gunman Chronicles, DoD, TFC, Half Life
1,
and others. But for some reason I just can't get this Half Life DM Source
to
run any other way except as a listen server. I have a 600kb upload cable
connection and I could easily host a dedicated server for 8 people. I want
to run a NooB server since there are others up vets can play on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
