It's not unusual for the server name to be "the default" when it first starts up.
After the first map change it will go to whatever was set in the server.cfg. This seems to happen most often in Win32 when the server GUI is used (IE: no -console in the launch properties). You can put your hostname into the .rc as well, and you may also need to put it into (edit with wordpad): c:\hl2server\platform\config\Server.vdf Another alternative is to put the correct hostname into cfg\autoexec.cfg ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ook" To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 24, 2006 10:24 PM Subject: [hlds] valve.rc and hostname, where did that come from?
Just recently my srcds hl1mp server hostname reverted back to hostname: Half-Life: Deathmatch Wondering where that came from, I poked around a while and found this entry in the file valve.rc: hostname "Half-Life: Deathmatch" So, the questions popped into my head - wtf is this, where did it come from, how did it get here, why was my hostname working before and just recently reverted to this? Anyone else see this happen? The thought also occured to me that I'm just loosing it - old age - senility - or maybe a lack of brain cells from staying up too late studying math too many nights in a row (finals in 10 days - woohoo!)
