Hello,

This error is generally spammed in the console, bots or not, but the
amount of spam produced by this is less than it was several builds
before. It can also happen in other Source-enabled games (even HL2), so
it's not specifically related to bots.

It is occasionally quite annoying when you're trying to use the server
console, but can be ignored.

Thx Bart,

Dunno why they would elect to flood the console with what appears to be
u=
seless clutter. As you mentioned.. trying to get anything done in the
conso=
le is futile. Filter it as debug code or something.. hell if I wanna see
it=
.

Valve,
We really need a way to turn off either selectively by ip address,

it is polluting the logs with all the rcon address logging of every
hlstatsx event getting logged. I believe its a good idea to have
the rcon command logging, but my logs are getting swelled up with
useless logging of all the hlstatsx commands for every player.

Thanks

We have a similiar thread going within our community forums. Some are
very mad, some ambivalent, and some ready to embrace the change. We
are an older CS 1.6 community that manages to chug along year after year
with dedicated players that love the game, and the sense of belonging to
something they really enjoy. We have a dedicated admin staff that
outnumbers many workplace supervisory teams. I pay the monthly
bandwidth bills with my own cash and donations from the folks that love
the game and keep it rolling. Our folks don't get paid, we spend our
cash maintaining it. We don't depend on valve for much, VAC is useless,
updates to improve and fix gameplay have been nonexistent for 1.6 for
years. The number of folks (friends, family, co-workers) that our
community have turned on to buying valve products over the last 8 years
has to number in the 100's if not 1000's of product's sold for Valve.
That is Valve's revenue source, making games.. not promoting non-related
products, IMO. Now valve will be making us server ops party to being
purveyors for other people's products that we may or may not endorse,
like, nor care about. We, the server ops, and communities that support
the servers are Valve's endorsers, not Coca-Cola, not Intel, etc....
If the server model originated on Valve owned servers and Valve paid-for
bandwidth, I could see the point.

Oh well, as I tell our community, patience, roll with it and see what
happens. I have to have faith and trust in Valve to make the right
decisions here, that the program they will implement will not impact
gameplay, will not affect gameplay, will not diminish gameplay. That's
what we are here for, right, gameplay? That's the bottom line. Valve
has something very special in their game model that's not common, folks
that dedicate their own time and resources without (too) much complaint
to make valve's products continue to be viable. Let's keep that harmony
going.. please.

interview: advertisements coming to cs

In-game advertisements are coming to Counter-Strike 1.6. Go ahead and
let
that sink in a bit. CS-Nation has the exclusive first interview with
Valve's
Doug Lombardi about this upcoming addition into the Counter-Strike
world.
CS-Nation: Many gamers who play CS 1.6 purchased the retail version.
CS:
Source was sold as part of the Half-Life 2 package. How do you think
gamers
who purchase your products will react to in-game ads?

Doug Lombardi: We believe that gamers are going to expect and accept
well-done advertising in games. We want to make sure that advertising
does
not detract from the game experience, so it is our hope that first time
Counter-Strike purchasers will consider it simply as part of the game
world.
There are three information packed pages to this interview. Go ahead and
give it a gander and voice your opinions in the comment section.

-------------------------------------------------------

Hey permanent screw heads. Your going to pay for my fucking server when
you
put up ads in it? Get bloody real!

This SO pisses me off. We do all the fuckin work of hosting YOUR GAME on
OUR
SERVERS for fucking FREE and you are now going to use it as
advertisement
base?

What the bloody fucking hell is wrong with you people?

Forgive me for all the swearing, but i basicly feel like i've been
fucked
up
the ass with a giant baseball batt.

We pay the cost for the server hardware, we pay the costs for the
bandwith
and propper server locations, and your gettin all the money of it?

If we put up some ads in our server to help fund it you go all wah wah
treadning with lawsuites 'n shit, and now your pulling the very same
shit,
by putting the ads in, and taking money out of our own hands. Meaning we
have to pay even more cause we wont attrackt our own advertisers anymore
due
to this shit?

What a bunch of crap shit this is.

Saint K.
