What wrath? It was a joke. :)
But now that you mention it, "Oh what a tangled web we weave..." :\

OK.

You decide to start a clan.

You have a 12 slot server.

You find it becomes more popular.

So you go back to your gameserver company and you order a 16 slot server.

Is your band or merry men, going to complain about the upgrade to a 16 slot
server? Have they been mislead?

Save your wrath for people who fill their servers up with bots etc.

A person joining a server advertised as a 64 slot monster, when it can only
handle 16 people, half of them being bots, is one thing.

But someone joining a 12 slot server in the early evening to find out 3
hours later that it can handle way more as the server becomes more popular
later on in the evening, isn't exactly going to mark us down as being
dishonest.

Cheers!

So you want to build a base of loyal regulars by misleading them? Sounds
like your a politician.

Well I kinda lied about that. I wanted an answer without derailing things,
so here is what I'm really up to.

I'm a person who has a large server, but hasn't built a large base of
players yet.

So....I have 64 slots. I don't want it packed with 64 players all the time -
that would be boring and besides, I don't think it will happen.

Here's the deal.

If I advertise 50 players with the server having 4 bots, during the day, it
looks like this

URBAN75 UK CS:S SERVER 4/50

Now...

The players who want to play a small amount of people, won't touch the
server, because they are put off with the 50 slots thing. They will join a
server that says something like 4/12 rather than 4/50.

The players who want to play a large amount of people, will simply pick a
server that has more than 4 players on.

Then I'm left with the hardcore faithful.

What I want to do, is run a script that dynamically changes the amount of
players advertised, depending on how many are already connected. Why
advertise that I have 50 slots, when I have only 5 people playing? I'm more
likely to get another 5 players, if I declare that the server as 12 slots.
Once I get my 10th player, I get the server to advertise 16 slots....and so
on.

It's defiantly worth a try. It's a little cunning against the people who
wanted to play a 12 v 12 and don't want higher numbers but at least they got
what they wanted for a while and it's not as dishonest as advertising more
slots than I can cater or filling the server up with bots.

Cheers!

You really don't need 6 reserved slots.

If you are using amxmodx the way it works is that someone with reserved slot
allowed joins they uses a hidden slot to join the server and then someone is
kicked from the server to open the reserved slot back up. You just
configure with amxmodx it does everything you need to do with setting up
reserved slots. If you are not using amxmodx then just ignore this message.
