Mike It finally worked but I must say it looked entirely different this time. Every other time I ran hldsupdatetool (from a bat file so it ran the same way every time) I could see all the files downloading with the % listed on the left side. There were literally hundreds of files. This time it didn't do that. It listed several things it was checking like version numbers etc. and then it downloaded maybe a dozen files and when it was done it said the installation was up to date. I ran it again just to be sure and it didn't download anything this time and said that the installation was up to date. I guess it is possible that every time I ran it over the last two days it got more and more of the files so by tonight it got everything. Whatever it was, I'm glad it finally worked.
