That error from the logs doesn't actually mean anything with piracy according the the FAQ. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=374 Plus, it's been around for a long time. If this does turn out to be an anti-piracy measure from Valve as in attacking those using non-steam etc, then it's about time!
