it is something really really simple to find out. there is a key to the servers that is publicly viewable to any 3rd party admin tool.
What really should be done is a check between a list in the steam community group and the servers. if a server has a steam group set it should check it against a server list in the steam community group and if it fails then reject the servers. Shouldn't be to hard to put something like this in since there is already a connection between the game and steam community servers.
