I have been reading this list for a long time. I normally delete the e-mails after I read them. I never thought I'd want to run a dedicated L4D server. But now I've changed my mind. I currently have CSS and HL2DM dedicated servers installed in the following directory: C:\SRCDS. Could someone be so kind as to help me get started? Here are my questions. I know they're pretty basic.
1. What target line do I need when running the HLDSUpdateTool.exe? If I can use some of the same files that are currently in C:\SRCDS please consider that when telling me what the target should look like. Or if you suggest duplicate files in a totally separate install, that's OK too. 2. What ports do I need to forward on my router if I'm hosting on a local LAN with private IPs? I'd like the server to be visible or at least connectable from the internet. 3. Could someone post a basic internet config file for me to start with? Where should I place the config file? 4. Will server performance be improved by running srcdsfpsboost.exe like CSS and HL2DM? 5. Finally, I'm not really familiar with how the lobby match making or steam groups work. If I'd just like some friends to be able to connect to my server when I'm also playing, what's the best way to accomplish that? I remember when L4D was first released there were lots of complaints about not being able to play on your own server consistently. Has this been fixed or is there a decent workaround? Thanks! Google searches seem to find conflicting information about L4D. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
