Greetings folks. I have decided to jump into the server community
(specifically to run some L4D servers). Just loaded hldsupdatetool last
night and set it to load L4D. I've already been made aware of
http://serverwiki.info/wiki/Main_Page and
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Main_Page as resources, but I was
hoping I could mayhaps inquire of general 'tips' for starters.

Aside from any general advice, I did have some specific questions:
1) Can anyone think of any thing that would be preventing me from logging
onto my own server? I am running srcds on the same machine that I am
running the L4D client on (this shouldn't pose any problems, should it?).
I've done so far as to enable 'DMZ' for my machine so there shouldn't be
any blocked ports or anything (yes, windows firewall is disabled).

2) When running hldsupdatetool to load the L4D server files, it stopped at
99.7% (can't remember the exact line item atm . . . I can get that later
today). I tried running it again, but it said it was all up to day. I later
started up srcds and it indicated that I may need to rebuild my library as
I was missing some items . . . but then it finished loading and players
were able to join my server. Anyone else see anything like this? Should I
scrap my install and do a fresh one?
