In the meantime I've been tinkering with the steam Dedicated server config files found in X:\Steam\steamapps\common\america's army 3 dedicated server\Binaries, and uploaded them to the host box (roughly 2Gb). Managed to get a server up and running. It recognised the map I was running and almost connected with my client but of course because the auth servers aren't working it wouldn't let me finish connecting.
