Well, ye not explorer, but hldsupdatetool doesn't respond to commands,
it does seem to update in the background, but doesn't respond to ctrl+c
or closes when its done. Bit weird.

What exactly do you mean when you say you have this same problem on 
Linux? Explorer doesn't exist in *nix.
