You are correct. It's my perogative to pay for a server, I am not going to get into anything else other than to say, for over a year, all many servers owners have asked (and have been ignored by Valve) is to be notified when an update is coming. It's a simple request that the largest of corporations can do (i.e. Microsoft, among others).
Sure, I was annoyed when I posted my first post......dramatic, or whatever, I was pissed that our servers are down not because of me, but because of Valve. I test software for a living for a large bank and if our team put out code which often had to have an update or two shortly there-after, we'd be fired. It's not too hard to expand a beta-program beyond the few testers they have (obviously it's not working as well as it should, eh?) I am VERY thankful Valve produces updates more frequently than most other game companies. But let's give a little respect to those folks who pay to keep servers up so they *CAN* continue making money, eh? Is that TOO much to ask? I don't think so.
