I can't see that ever happening on any relevant scale and I don't see it as
a good business practice to reveal up-coming tweaks and or new additions
that may or may not happen due to surrounding circumstances and server
issues.

New game releases are obviously spammed throughout industry, game changes to
existing games should be unannounced. You're not thinking of Valve as you
may suggest you're looking to be able to give exclusives which would benefit
your servers. I don't know if you rent servers (good luck with your business
if you do) or run servers for players to join and make a profit on them (in
which case screw you) but letting on that something is going to happen pre
hand is just stupid. This is valve and steam we are talking about and with
all due respect to valve, things are just too unpredictable to let give
people ear-candy

I'm with Hutch on this one. If server admins can get enough of a glimpse
into future releases to help build hype for an upcoming game and be better
prepared to serve the game as well, I think it'd be a win-win for both
parties. Valve sells more games due to the hype server admins
preparing/advertising their preparation to serve new releases.
If we can get an heads-up on what we'll need to do early (maybe a month or
two in advance), better community readiness is better community period.

I think they're adding more hats this year.

2012/1/1 G. Hutchinson <[email protected]>

It would be interesting for the new year for Valve to share with us server
administrators a glimpse in to possible future coming plans pertaining to
TF2 or any of their games. New features being tossed around, etc.

Personally I would like to see a third installment of L4D that includes 8
human characters and 8 infected, some old, some new, that would allow a 16
person versus match. That would just simply kick anal cavity. Naturally with
new , fitting maps.

REAL movies would kick ass. TF2 could be a Pixar'ish movie. Left4Dead and
Half Life movies would be phenomenal as well (live actors). I am talking big
budget, Steven Spielberg, or Guillermo del Toro quality movies with quality
actors.... That would put Valve up there in competition with the Resident
Evil movies... Ron Howard seems bored now a days... Call him....

So if anyone out there in Valve Land reads this, how about a glimpse of what
the future potentially holds for us server admins.

Convey not "convay"...

New year resolutions: Wear underwear less, play more games, reinstate
my "no bra's are to be worn while playing on my servers by any female
21 or older" rule, get rid of all male admins.

Happy new years everyone. I hope all have a prosperous and healthy year.

If he follows through, looks like I'm going to be hanging out on Hutch's
servers a helluva lot more.

Hello all,

I would like to enquiry about where no weapon spread would stand on a quick
play server. No weapon spread does not add a tag so would not disqualify the
server but what would valves opinion on this be ?

Thank
Damien Delay

Well, I think it would be okay. What would disqualify you is if you
modified your server to not show tags when it would normally. Also, No
weapon spread would be insane. Long range SMG anyone? You should probably
try no RANDOM weapon spread instead.
