Ok by using the following two lines to start the gameserver, then it works perfect:
start hlds -game valve -console +maxplayers 20 +exec server.cfg +port 27025 +map crossfire reg add "HKCU\Software\Valve\Steam\ActiveProcess" /v SteamClientDll /t REG_SZ /d "" /f HLSW prints protocol 48 and it is visible in the server browser, too ... Hi all, back to the roots. I try to install a HL1 gameserver. Used the following command: hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game "valve" -dir . -retry Then I start it by using: hlds.exe -console -game valve +map crossfire +maxplayers 32 +port 27025 Then it prints some stuff in console: Console initialized. Protocol version 48 Exe version 1.1.2.1 (valve) Exe build: 23:41:55 Aug 15 2011 (5408) Connection to Steam servers successful. VAC secure mode is activated. But HLSW says this: v1.1.2.1 (Windows, Dedicated, Protocol 17) Protocol 17?! ... When I check other HL1 gameservers, HLSW prints protocol 48. And my gameserver isn't visible in the ingame server browser... Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here? - Andreas
