The same (used to?) happens to STV demo's of CS:S. Now I've quit that game
I can not be sure of this but basically what happens is the same. At random
intervals a demo gets this bug, 1 out of x demo's.
Sometimes it works to go beyond that tick while fastforwarding, or when
watching the demo again and start at a tick, just after the exact tick it
would normally crash.

Not sure if the exact same error occurs but maybe this works for you. :)
