i've tested it... pingboost 1 was best ping in lan with 9-11 ms pingboost 3 is as if u have'nt done anything with pingboost... but im not sure if its right...

I believe it's to do with sleeps during cycles (thus giving cpu to the other processes). The higher the number the less/shorter the sleeps are. So pingboost 1 will give quicker response to clients at a minor cpu usage cost, whereas pingboost 3 will be quite happy gobbling up 90% of an Athlon XP 1800.
