leon/eric, any chance of a beta server being released that sets the default rate etc settings to their max/optimal settings? I help run a decent sized lanparty, and am always amazed at there sometimes being choke in certain circumstances, esp in tourney situations..

Well, being chokeless is obviously better, but a little bit of choke here and there is probably not going to be that big of a deal, especially with HL's prediction, lag compensation, etc. There is only so much that can be overcome, though, so if there is a decent amount of continuous choke going on, it will be noticed. >> On a similar note, LAN server ops might not be aware of this, but for >> LAN servers (sv_lan = 1), client "rate" settings (and sv_min/maxrate) >> are totally ignored and 9999 is used for the rate of all clients. >> This will be increased to the max allowed rate, 20000, in the next >> major release, but it's something to keep in mind for now. > >Wow...how long has it been like this? At least since the very first patch to Half-Life and perhaps in the original shipping version as well. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
