The absolutly most important thing to know to avoid getting medical
conditions in your wrists is to have proper support for your entire arm.

It does not have to be any fancy wristsupports but resting your arms at
the actual desk is at least as good (and probably a lot better).
You need to have your keyboard/mouse a good 40cm (16'') in on the desk
and the right height on the desk so you can rest your entire arm on the
surface.
If you do you will never get any problems with your wrists.

However most people have their keyboard and mouse at the very tip of
their desk, so they can also cram in their monitor on a much to narrow
desk for the purpouse. This leaves most with 0 space to rest their arms
on. This puts the entire weight of your arm on the wrist, something it
was not designed for by evolution and with time you will pay the price.

Move your monitor off the desk, get a TFTscreen or a larger desk, or if
on of that is possible, move the monitor to a corner and sit at an
45degree ange to the desk so at least your mouse hand arm gets full support.
A good tip also, a mousepad under your elbow (which should be on the
desk) makes it alot more comfortable.
