Fact of the matter is I can ssh directly into my server from anywhere with a download that is usually smaller than any mail client download.

If your message is in html with the usual porn, multilevel marketing or other such BS then who the hell cares that it didn't display correctly. I wasn't going to read it anyway.
We're not talking about HTML emails here. Reading emails under Windows doesn't automatically wanting to read HTML emails. I don't read emails in HTML.
