I run two freebsd 4.7 servers, and in the last two weeks the file transfers have been ridiculously slow. All network traffic is crawling. It's lagging my servers like crazy. Often I can't transfer more than 8-10k/sec on the boxes... but never above 80k. Both are connected to the internet (one in CA, one in NC). Even LAN file transfers are this slow, and other machines on the same network have no problems. I tried upgrading the kernel to the latest 4.7 stable, but it didn't help.
I've looked at the network graphs and there is no excessive bandwidth that is unaccounted for. I don't believe this is a bandwidth issue. I've looked through all the processes, and there's nothing abnormal running. Rebooted too.... I ran chkrootkit, the fbi's find_ddos, and ddos_scan but didn't find anything. Any ideas as to what might be going on? What else should I do to figure this out? Thanks!
