Sorry to butt in here. Stefan, really, he has already explained that his caf� computers gets banned on *other* systems/servers. No local install of CD will ever fix that problem. Maybe you didn't read his email after all? ;-)
Well I guess I have to welcome you to the peanut gallery of people only reading half a thread before replying. Remeber to check in with mr D to get info about dental plans and privileges ;-)
Meanwhile I'll reapeat some important tidbits you obviously missed like * Drew is admining/responsible for the majority of servers in NZ (I assume that the mentioned 99% is a slight exageration, but still points at a good share of the servers). * International connection sux (giving high latency/ping as well as possibly freeze-lagg for people playing on foreign servers). * Drew is apparently an active anticheater in NZ gaming circles.
These things put him in the very special position where he can in fact (if he chooses to) pretty much decide if the NZ players should use VAC/VSM, CD or neighter. In short, there won't be too many "other servers" with VAC running to worry about (that NZ players will realistically connect to due to latency and lagg) if he would choose to go down the CD route :) Also if the majority of servers in NZ should switch to CD, very likely many of the remaining ones would do too, if nothing else out of convenience for the players.
So in this very special case a "local install of CD" as you call it would very likely solve the problem of his mashines getting banned even on other servers.
