Remove pingboost and you'll find CPU usage is much much better. And that 10ms lower ping really makes no practical difference. However, the increased CPU usage with 3.1.1.1 is a very real thing. An increase in CPU usage means the same hardware can't do as much as it did previously - which essentially means increased costs for those companies running large numbers of servers, and nobody likes increased costs.
