I downloaded the linux steam client from valvesoftware, created an account an
performed the update.
My working hlds directory is ~/gs/hlds, so I put the steam binary extracted
from hldsupdatetool.bin at ~/gs/hlds/steam. I run a dod1.0 server, so I
ran ./steam -update dod . <username> <password> from within the hlds
directory. It ran through, verifying/downloading thing things it needed to
with no errors.
However, I did notice the following:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/gs/hlds$ ./steam -version
Bootstrapper version: 0
Versions installed in '.':
HL base content: 0
Linux Server Engine: 0
dod content: 0
I'm thinking that is not correct, heh.
Now upon trying to start my test server, I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/gs/hlds$ ./hlds_run -game dod +ip 66.161.147.30 +map
dod_avalanche-pingboost 1 sys_ticrate 100

Add "-debug" to the ./hlds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help
with solving this problem
Thu Sep 11 15:29:29 EDT 2003: Server restart in 10 seconds
Thu Sep 11 15:29:30 EDT 2003: Server Quit
Is this a library problem? Why did that 'scandir failed' appear? I assume I
can just 'touch language.cfg' to satisfy that error.
But as for the LoadLibrary failed, ./dod/dlls/dod_i386.so exists:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/gs/hlds$ ls -lah dod/dlls

-rw-r-xr-x 1 cyko cyko 2.3M Sep 11 14:42 dod_i386.so
How do i resolve this? Good thing I decided to test this out on my test
server first before doing this on our public server.
