Oh, then that's bad on his system... I was comparing % free on my W2K3
server and my Red Hat server and got similar results on Office 16 ppl. On my
W2K3 system, system wide CPU Utilization is about 10 to 12 % (Except when my
stats.pl runs for psychostates :-D). On my Red Hat System, same map and ppl,
I show between 79% and 82% idle (which is about 18% to 21% utilization on
Linux) This is all on ONE cpu, leaving the rest of that CPU and a whole
other CPU to sit there and crunch NAT, Apache, Qmail, and system functions.
So the Linux binary does run a little hotter, but not that much difference
for an average server admin to really worry about. Weird thing is my clients
say when I run the server on Windows, the environment seems just as smooth
as Linux, but the game play is a little slower... I have yet to figure this
out.

I suppose if you were the type that was running HLDS server for a profit,
then every CPU tick is money, but for the average 90% of the rest of us, it
seem just fine... Well, to me anyway.

Thanks for the clarification :)

Joe

that appears to be usage..not idle or available cpu.
