Who cares if MS owns the desktop, Matt never denied that fact. As for your final comment, in my case I don't believe this to be true. When a VAC update would break CS 1.5, I wouldn't play the game until it worked again. I have yet to play 1.6 because it will not load under wine, and for this reason, I have yet to update my 3 servers to 1.6.
